Spotted Salamander Catering is a well-known café and catering company based in Columbia, South Carolina, offering inventive, Southern-inspired cuisine with frequently rotating menus. Serving both daily café guests and catering clients, the business depends on clear, up-to-date online information. This project focused on updating their existing website to better support daily content changes while creating a more intuitive, mobile-friendly experience for customers looking to explore menus, find locations, and order online.

The Challenge

The existing website lacked flexibility and was difficult for staff to update regularly. Menus, daily offerings, and location details required frequent changes, but the site structure made those updates cumbersome. Additionally, the user experience needed improvement — particularly on mobile — to ensure visitors could quickly find essential information like menus, hours, locations, and online ordering options.

The Approach

We updated the website to a new WordPress theme and implemented Elementor as the primary page-building tool, giving the Spotted Salamander team an easy-to-manage system for ongoing updates. A mobile-first approach guided all layout and navigation decisions, prioritizing clarity and ease of use for customers browsing on phones and tablets. Content was reorganized to highlight key actions such as viewing menus, identifying locations, and placing orders online, reducing friction for both staff and visitors.
